Well I just finished up "Patio Scene".... its clocked in @ 95 BPM, very chill... lots of little bleeps n' boops layered within the 4 synths and 4 drumRacks. This track is definitely one that gives you the feeling of floating away or sinking to the bottom of the ocean... u decide :)

Tactic is a dj/production team made up of Ben Fuller and Brent Lippincott. The pair started working together in 2002 and immediately began to build on the success of their individual music careers. Ben’s background is based in electronic dance music and he cut his teeth playing warehouses, lofts and clubs all over the Midwest. Brent experienced great success in the hip-hop scene and split his time between djing and running an independent hip-hop label, Datura Records.

The two found common creative ground with the burgeoning music scene that ignored genre boundaries. Their focus became the best possible music from a broad cross section of club culture. Their 4 turntable dj sets blur the line between hip-hop, electronic and club music to get everyone’s asses shaking. Their djing has taken them all over the US and have included appearances at the legendary South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

Tactic has proven just as productive in the studio as they are in the club. Their remixes and original productions have garnered international attention with plays on NYC’s East Village Radio and London’s prestigious KISS FM as well as getting in rotation in the dj sets of Diplo, Sinden, Tittsworth, Starkey, Flosstradamus, Cosmo Baker and Eli Escobar. Tactic’s music and work ethic has the Pitch Weekly exclaiming “they demonstrate a vehicle of pure talent with a motor that doesn’t quit.” Along with their newly launched label Think 2wice, expect that motor to keep going through 2009 and beyond.

Thank god for income taxes.

I am couch surfing at the moment until my Income Tax Refund gets transferred into my savings account... So my music production is on a stand still for the next few weeks.

Brett Bullion is Tarlton.

The impulse began as a kid: collecting records, playing percussion in the school band, and jamming in basements with school friends. As a teenager, Brett learned from session-drummer Matt Chamberlain’s work with Tori Amos and Fiona Apple, was mentored by Minneapolis improvisational bands Fat Kid Wednesdays and Happy Apple, wore out several copies of Autechre’s Tri Repetae, and experienced Kid A. In high school, he formed Tiki Obmar with Chris Smalley and Graham Chapman. They released several records on Miami-based electronic label Merck Records. Shortly after the disbanding of Tiki Obmar, Bullion recorded and released the Van EP under the name Tarlton.

After college came a year-long stint in Seattle. Tarlton forged The Papa Theses EP in a studio space nestled beside the Port of Seattle in the winter of 2008. Written and recorded with one drumkit and a laptop, the music is as big, expansive, and lonely as freighters leaving a Northern Pacific city by night. The title comes from a friend nicknamed “Papa,” who had advice for an overly-obsessive young producer: just sit down, set up quickly, have your tea, and play. The Papa Theses is honed meticulously and sharpened by an uncanny ear for rhythm.

Tarlton signed with Afternoon Records in the Fall of 2008 and will be releasing The Papa Theses EP in March, and is already hard at work on a follow-up LP.
